As a Berri-Barmera Council candidate at this years Local Government elections, I believe politicians, Federal, State and Local, should always be prepared to listen to what the community has to say because, after all, they are elected to 'represent' the community. "The first duty of a politician is to listen and be prepared to admit error because often some policy makers seem oblivious to the consequences of their decsions while others don't seem to live in the real world." I pledge to give support, as a representative voice in council, to assist all sectors achieve desireable goals in addition to supporting productive proposals from Governments or other members, which have the total well being of our community at its core. I will vigorously oppose any which don't.
"My lifeskills, QUALIFICATIONS, ACCREDITATIONS, formal SKILLS, open door and open mind policy, equips me to be a representative voice in the Berri-Barmera Council. In 1987, My then wife, Ellen, and myself created history when we stood together as a team for the Australian Federal Senate. Tom has also been ACTIVE in local government politics at Port Pirie, Whyalla and Kingston SE. WORK EXPERIENCE includes Community welfare, Disability Services, Banking, Transport (Truck, Bus & Train), Mining, Education, Building, Livestock, Agriculture. His most recent jobs as Support worker for persons with a disability and Accommodation Manager at a Backpackers Hostel, involved contact with disadvantaged and farmers, providing some insight into difficulties faced within the community. Please also note, I also hold a White Card, a Heavy Combination driver's licence, Bus Drivers licence and Fork Lift licence, showing I am not afraid to get my hands dirty. Tom Towle is resident and rate payer, a member of the Barmera-Monash Football Club and a Volunteer for Make a Wish in the Riverland.
